Well, friends, the cancer rollercoaster has taken us to the top. There’s only one way to go and that’s down!
I had my time with Dr. Martin on July 7. The purpose was to go over my first Endoscopic and CT Scan results since I finished chemo-radiation on January 6, 2015.
I already told you about our roller-coaster ride after the endoscopy of my esophageal tumor two weeks ago.
Doc Martin confirmed two things:
(1) The Endoscopy showed NO cancer cells, but rather highgrade dysplasia, a pre-cancerous state of abnormal cell growth.
(2) The CT Scan showed NO change in my internal systems since the PET Scan in January 2015.
Bottom Line: MY CANCER IS IN REMISSION!
Going forward, the process will be ‘watchful waiting.’ In 6 months I’ll have an endoscopic biopsy on the tumor again to ensure the cells don’t morph back into cancer.
Since the tumor shrunk from 40% coverage of the esophagus to 25%, I’m praying the shrinkage continues until it’s gone and fresh, new tissue will cover the tumor site.
My Naturopathic Oncologist said dysplasia is reversible. I’ll see her this week to determine my naturo path forward.
Her last CT Scan showed NO lymphoma cancer tumors in her body. She’s been taking an auto-immune drug, Rituxan, as an ongoing preventive.
After her last treatment (she has one every 2 months) she started feeling the after-effects on her body and felt she should stop.
Doc Martin confirmed that was probably a good course of action. The final decision will be made in a consultation in August.
Again we are both rejoicing in this good news for our lives, and praising Jehovah Raphe, the God who heals.
Psalm 18:6 says, “But in my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.” (NLT)
Not only were we praying, but you were too. Thank you so much! God has heard these prayers and taken us through a very deep valley with a good and generous outcome.
